Top Methods for Removing Acne Scars

Once you have acne scars, it is too late, right? Granted, it is too late for ordinary methods to correct it. There are plenty of home remedies that can help to hide scars a little, as well as a wide variety of make ups that can hide them temporarily. However, there are still ways to remove the scars completely and start again with clean, smooth skin. Read on to learn about the most popular methods for removing acne scars.

Laser Toning

Laser toning is a versatile treatment that can be used to treat a large variety of skin problems. The treatment itself is non-invasive and is capable of producing the following results:

  • Rejuvenating dull skin which results in a brighter, more vibrant skin tone
  • Improves the laxity of skin with early sagging
  • Improves skin texture
  • Cleanses pores
  • Removes mild acne scarring
  • Removes other mild issues such as abnormal pigmentation like freckles, sun spots, and age spots

This treatment is long-lasting and will affect all of these things regardless of which one you came to get treated. It requires two or three treatments every couple of weeks. Each treatment takes between five to ten minutes, causes you no pain, and allows you to go back to your normal daily habits without any downtime afterward.

Chemical Peel

Chemical Peels are another popular method of scar removal. An acidic chemical compound is placed on the affected area. The compound will penetrate your skin, removing any impurities on the surface, including acne scars. This treatment requires only a single session and is over in ten minutes. You will feel some pain during the process as the acidic compound burns off the scarred tissue, leaving room for clean, smooth skin to take its place. No downtime is required, but you will likely notice some redness for the next few days over the affected area. Keep the treated skin out of direct sunlight for the next few days as well as keep it moisturised to be sure that it heals quickly. This method is more effective at removing scars than laser toning, however, it is not as long-lasting and may need to be revisited every once in a while.

Steroid Injection

The steroid injection is another common, popular method of scar removal. While this method does require a needle, it does not require you to have any lasers or acids placed on your skin. While the previous methods are perfectly safe, some people are still uncomfortable with the idea of them. A steroid injection is the simplest method for these people as all they have to do is take the injection and wait for the scars to heal themselves. When the injection is taken, the steroids will increase your collagen production which will increase the number of clean, new skin cells that are produced. This increased skin cell density will smooth out your skin, as well as brighten the texture and remove minor scarring. If you have major acne scars you may need one of the previous treatments to fully remove it as the steroids can only do so much for those.
