Fractional Laser

A fractional laser peel, also known as fractional laser resurfacing or fractional laser treatment, is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses laser technology to improve the appearance and texture of the skin. It is a highly effective treatment for various skin concerns, including wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, sun damage, uneven skin tone, and texture irregularities.

What Happens During a Fractional Laser Peel Treatment?

During a fractional laser peel, a laser device is used to create microthermal treatment zones on the skin. These microscopic columns of laser energy penetrate the skin’s surface, targeting specific areas while leaving the surrounding tissues untouched. This fractional approach allows for precise and controlled treatment, minimizing downtime and reducing the risk of complications.

The laser energy stimulates the skin’s natural healing process, triggering the production of new collagen and elastin fibres. Collagen is a protein that provides structural support to the skin, while elastin helps maintain its elasticity. By promoting the growth of these vital components, a fractional laser peel can improve skin firmness, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance overall skin texture.

The intensity and depth of the laser treatment can be customized to address the specific concerns and needs of each patient. Deeper treatment settings are typically used for more severe skin conditions, while milder settings are suitable for those seeking a subtle improvement or maintenance treatment.

Safety

This laser facial treatment is a safe and effective way to remove dead cells and discolouration, and shrink pores without using chemicals. It can be used to brighten and lighten the skin, control acne, improve skin tone and texture and minimise pores.

Side Effects

This treatment works by removing the topmost layer of the skin using a laser. There may be around 5 days of redness akin to looking sunburnt. Discomfort during treatment is minimal due to numbing cream and most patients can resume normal activities immediately after treatment.

Results

Patients can often see results after one treatment although optimal results are achieved after 3-6 sessions. Typically, it is done on a fortnightly basis. This laser treatment gradually remodels the components of the skin until healing is complete. About 4 to 6 treatments may be necessary to produce the optimal results. There is no discomfort or downtime.

Consultation

It’s important to note that the number of treatments, treatment interval, and recovery period are subject to an individual’s skin type and the severity of their condition. A consultation with our doctor will help determine the best way to address your skin’s concerns and determine what are your skin’s goals.
